OCTOBER 5
AGGRAVATED ROBBERY: The 52-year-old female manager of a business in the 300 block of Robinson said she just was robbed. She said she was getting ready to open the front door when three males approached and forced her through the front doors to the safe near the front checkout. They forced her to open the safe and kneel on the ground while they took $800. A video recording of the incident was taken as evidence. The area was searched with negative results. The victim said they were tall, skinny and in their early 20s.
OCTOBER 6
• 8:25 a.m.: An officer went to the 700 block of Penhale for an alarm activation and found a dog running loose inside.
• 3:16 p.m.: Officers assisted Coitsville Township with a motor vehicle collision between Martha and Moore.
• 3:26 p.m.: An officer went to 14th and Reed for a possible altercation between a school bus driver and an adult. Upon review of the bus’ security tapes, it was determined that school officials will call the police if further action is needed.
• 3:50 p.m.: Police responded to the first block of Monette, the Tandy Apartments, for a problem involving a resident and harassing phone calls. No such activity was occuring.
• 5:34 p.m.: An officer searched unsuccessfully in the 400 block of Penhale for suspicious vehicles.
• 5:56 p.m.: Police went to a residence in the first block of Jackson for a male-female fight. No such activity was noted, and the caller wished to remain anonymous. Attempts to contact the homeowner were unsuccessful.
• 8:35 p.m.: An officer went to the 600 block of Robinson Road for a child trapped in a car. The child was removed prior to arrival.
• 9:43 p.m.: An officer went to a residence in the 700 block of Penhale for an alarm activation. The alarm company canceled the request prior to arrival.
USE OF ILLEGAL PLATES: While on patrol, an officer saw a silver Mercury Sable on Kendall near Matawan with plates that were registered to a 2001 Pontiac. The owner advised that she did not transfer the registration after an accident in July. The car was impounded and towed.
MENACING: A 59-year-old man from the 700 block of Whipple said he received a letter that one of his neighbors would “no longer endure” the barking of his dog. The letter stated that the neighbor would go to city council and police before he killed the animal.
AGGRAVATED ROBBERY: A 25-year-old woman from the first block of Seventh claimed she was robbed at knife-point by a man who flagged her down and asked for a ride. She said the man took $50 and fled on foot.
OCTOBER 7
BREAKING AND ENTERING: At 9:40 a.m., a 53-year-old Poland woman said her property in the first block of Penhale had a broken-out window and copper piping was missing from the basement.
OCTOBER 8
• 9 a.m.: An officer went to the 200 block of Hamilton to assist in shutting off water.
• 11 a.m.: An officer went to a general store because a resident was afraid to go inside. She called and said there were no cars and she couldn’t see any employees. The officer advised that the store and the employees were OK.
ARREST WARRANT: At 12:15 a.m., an officer passed a female on 16th that he recognized from a photo and who was involved in a hit skip. The female was stopped and her identity was confirmed. She was arrested.
DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION/FALSIFICATION: At 1:28 a.m., while on patrol, an officer saw a silver Ford Taurus fail to signal a turn and initiated a traffic stop. The driver fumbled with his personal information and was caught in a lie. He eventually revealed his true identity and was arrested for having invalid driving privileges.
OCTOBER 9
• 8:40 a.m.: Two officers went to the 600 block of Matawan for a front door alarm going off. The homeowner advised that it was set off accidentally.
• 9:10 a.m.: An officer went to the 300 block of Reed for an alarm. The homeowner advised it was accidental.
• 10:21 a.m.: Two officers went to Roosevelt Park regarding three males in a green van with no plates trying to make contact with a young boy. The boy’s mother yelled at one of the males, who covered his face and ran back inside the van. Police were unable to located the van in question.
• 10:43 a.m.: Two officers went to a coffee shop regarding two groups arguing. They were gone on police arrival and the store owner said he kicked them out.
•12:43 p.m.: An officer went to Almasy and Gertrude regarding a caller stating people were moving things out of a house. All was in good order.
• 12:50 p.m.: Two officers went to the first block of Monette for an upset male, who was gone on arrival.
• 1:59 p.m.: Police stood by in the 300 block of Penhale while an unconscious male was taken to the hospital.
• 2:20 p.m.: Two officers went to the 2000 block of Wilson for a general motion alarm. All was locked and secured.
• 5:33 p.m.: An officer went to the 200 block of Kendall for a kitchen window motion alarm. The area was secure.
BURGLARY: At 6:04 p.m., a 33-year-old woman from the first block of Oxford said a 50-in. TV and two brown couches were missing from her home. The rear window was open and a black tire iron was stuck in the ground.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: At 6:15 p.m., a 36-year-old woman from New Middletown said her ex-husband assaulted her while she was at a stadium. He was arrested.
• 9:40 p.m.: Two officers went to the high school for a report of juveniles who robbed a man’s house 30 minutes earlier. The juveniles were located and arrested.
• 10:30 p.m.: Two officers received a report of gunshots but found out the noise was fireworks.
• 10:40 p.m.: Two officers helped mediated a father-son argument in the 700 block of Sanderson.
OCTOBER 10
• 12:16 a.m.: Three officers went to the 400 block of Sanderson for a suspicious male looking into the caller’s red Jeep. The area was searched with negative results.
•2:10 a.m.: Three officers went to Chambers at Jackson for a report of three males running around naked. The area was checked with negative results.
• 5:37 a.m.: Two officers went to the first block of Oxford and resolved a girlfriend-boyfriend disagreement over a cell phone.
• 3:40 p.m.: An officer went to the 200 block of Kendall for a kitchen window alarm. The apartment was secure.
POSSESSION OF DRUGS: At 5:01 p.m., an officer was on Murray approaching Madison when he saw a silver Mercury driving in front of him and ran a random registration check. The registered owner did not have a valid license and the car was pulled over. The owner advised she had a bag of marijuana in the glove box. She was arrested. The passenger had a bag of marijuana and was arrested. The remaining 16-year-old female and infant child were removed and a relative was called for a ride.
• 6:53 p.m.: Two officers went to the first block of Tremble for an argument between neighbors. They were advised of their legal recourse.
• 6:57 p.m.: Two officers went to Sanderson and Sixth for a suspicious parked vehicle. The driver lived at the house where the vehicle was parked.
• 8:03 p.m.: Police went to Coitsville Road at Route 422 for a vehicle versus deer accident. Coitsville police were notified.
• 8:44 p.m.: Two officers went to the 100 block of Gordon for a possible burglary. The resident left the front door open.
• 8:57 p.m.: Two officers mediated a boyfriend-girlfriend argument in the 3800 block of Murray.
OCTOBER 11
• 1:06 a.m.: Two officers responded to a bar regarding an unwanted male who was uncooperative and wanted to hurt people. He left the premises.
DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION: At 6:32 a.m., an officer running radar found a white Toyota going east near Breetz going over the speed limit. The driver was pulled over and the male driver was found to have a suspended license due to a number of different suspensions, including child support. He was arrested.
• 4:10 p.m.: Two officers went to the first block of Tremble for a caller who said a boy came to the house looking for her 12-year-old son, yelling and raising his voice. Police arrived and spoke with the woman.
DRIVING UNDER SUSPENSION: At 4:30 p.m., police stopped a vehicle on 12th for speeding, and the male driver was arrested for not having a valid license.
• 4:40 p.m.: An officer went to the 400 block of Penhale for a fight taking place in the street. The fight was over when police arrived and no one was present. At 5:55 p.m., three officers went to the home again for a woman who said a girl kept driving past the house yelling things at her daughter. No contact was made with the girl in the car.
THEFT: At 6:20 p.m., the 75-year-old owner of a gas station in the 200 block of McCartney Road said a customers’ purse was stolen from her car. The woman said the only other car around was a black, mid-sized car. The purse contained her cell phone, social security card, bank card and driver’s license.
• 9:20 p.m.: Four officers went to Creed Circle for a suspicious blue vehicle with a loud muffler that had driven by the house three or four times and was also found sitting in Roosevelt Park with its lights off. When the caller’s husband drove past the car, it turned its lights on and drove away. The car was not found by police.
• 11:08 p.m.: An officer went to Wilson and Warhurst for a male yelling on his cell phone while pacing back and forth. The man said he was having an argument and was walking to his home in the first block of Bright. More than two hours later, police were called to man’s residence because he was mentally unstable. He voluntarily agreed to go to the hospital.
OCTOBER 12
• 1:24 a.m.: An officer went to the Kirwin Homes area for a suspicious vehicle with a wheelchair rack on it. No such vehicle was located.
ASSAULT: At 1:42 p.m.: An officer went to the 100 block of Jean Street and spoke to a 19-year-old Youngstown woman who said she got in an argument with a man over a lighter and was punched several times in the face. The woman said she did not need an ambulance despite her visible wounds.
• 3 p.m.: Three officers went to the first block of Bright for a man who said his son was using vulgar language and yelling at his mother. The son was taken to the hospital willingly.
• 6:50 p.m.: Three officers went to a residence in the 100 block of Madison for an investigation of smoke coming from behind the home. The homeowner said he was burning extra branches. The fire was dying down.
• 8 p.m.: Two officers – one from Campbell and one from Struthers – went to a residence in the 200 block of Sanderson for a possible burglary in progress. There was no sign of anyone in the area. A 47-inch black TV was missing. The air conditioning unit was knocked loose and the back door to the residence was open.
• 9:05 p.m.: Four officers went to the 300 block of Whipple for a burglary in progress. The homeowner was there and no unwanted persons were found in the area.
• 9:15 p.m.: Four officers went to a residence in the 100 block of Monroe for an investigation of people trespassing in the house. No one was there on arrival.
• 9:45 p.m.: Three officers went to an ice cream shop regarding a man who ordered food, asked what time the girls were leaving and then came back to sit in the parking lot. He was made to leave without incident.
•11:30 p.m.: An officer saw an occupied suspicious vehicle behind a residence in the 300 block of Kendall. The officer advised that all was in good order. The party was advised to move the vehicle since it was on private property. They complied and a juvenile male was transported to the 500 block of Neoka.
• 11:53 p.m.: An officer went to the 300 block of Porter for a suspicious male circling the block, but couldn’t find the suspect.
OCTOBER 13
• 4:32 a.m.: Two officers went to the 600 block of Martha for a suspicious white vehicle that was parked in the street and was running for several hours. Police found a woman in the vehicle who lived on the street and had lost track of time while on her cell phone.
• 11:53 a.m.: An officer went to the 500 block of Sycamore for a side door alarm. The house was secure from the ground level.
• 12:15 p.m.: An officer went to a gas station for a white Crown Victoria being driven erratically. The area was searched with no results.
• 12:24 p.m.: An officer went to the 200 block of Kendall for a front door alarm. The resident’s mother-in-law set it off accidentally.
• 1:31 p.m.: An officer went to the 300 block of Porter for a dining room motion alarm. All was secure from the ground level.
HIT-SKIP: At 4:12 p.m., an officer went to the 500 block of 12th for an accident that occurred earlier. A 57-year-old woman advised that her boyfriend’s friend came to the residence in his maroon Ford truck drunk and stumbling around and attempting to hook up a trailer. He left a few minutes later and she discovered that her vehicle had been struck in the left rear, and taillight fragments were in the driveway. The officer then went to the man’s residence in the 200 block of Reed, where he was in the rear yard attempting to pull his damaged front bumper away from the front tire. He was drunk and denied any knowledge of the accident earlier in the day. He was given a chance to make arrangements for the accident but refused and was arrested.
RUNAWAY: At 6:30 p.m., a 32-year-old woman from the first block of Tremble said her son ran away from her new residence. They just moved from Midlothian in Struthers, and she said the son had a hard time adjusting. She said he may have gone back to Struthers where all his friends were.
• 7:31 p.m.: Three officers went to the first block of Picadilly for a report of a group of juveniles running out from behind the house. No juveniles were found.
• 9:03 p.m.: An officer went to apartments in the first block of Monette for a man continuously dialing 911 and saying a masked man was trying to shoot him in the head.
• 11:52 p.m.: Two officers went to a church parking lot for a suspicious truck. It was determined to be Life Fleet.
