BURGLARY: At 2:50 p.m., a 56-year-old woman from the 400 block of Garfield said someone entered her home and stole an undetermined amount of jewelry. Smudge marks were located on one of the home’s windows. The glass was broken on the rear door and the interior door after it was kicked in.
• 3:39 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Geneva because a caller could not make contact with the homeowner. Access was gained with the help of the fire department and an elderly woman who had fallen was located. An ambulance was summoned.
• 3:50 p.m.: Four officers responded to the first block of Poland Avenue for a male who passed out on a bench outside a business. The male was transported to his residence.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS/OBSTRUCTING OFFICIAL BUSINESS: At 6:09 p.m., an officer saw a male and female walking on Fifth and had prior knowledge that the male had an active warrant. Additional units were called to the area since the man was a flight risk. As an officer approached the subjects, the man started running away through the rear yards between West Omar and West Harvey. While the male was pursued, the female was questioned and initially denied being with the man before, saying that it wasn’t him at all. Police warned the woman that she would be charged for lying and she admitted the man’s identity. She was placed in the back of a cruiser for further questioning. Meanwhile, police set up a perimeter of the area and began canvassing the area on foot for the male. As an officer approached a residence in the 900 block of Fifth, the male appeared on the side of a fenced-in back yard and ran toward the 300 block of Harvey. He was then confronted by one of the residents and ran north, where he was confronted by two officers. He was ordered to the ground and handcuffed.
• 7:13 p.m.: An officer was dispatched to the 400 block of Garfield for three or four suspicious looking males lurking in the area and possibly looking in houses. The female reportee said the males ran when several residents exited their homes to inquire about the group’s presence. The area was searched with negative results.
