OHSAA Foundation Benefit Game Planned

STRUTHERS – The Struthers Athletic Department is sponsoring its second OHSAA Foundation Classic on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at the Struthers Field House.

The Struthers girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball teams will be hosting Youngstown Christian in a benefit doubleheader. The boys will play at 6 p.m. and the Ladycats at 7:30. All proceeds from the event will be split between the Ellen Becker Fund and the Doris and Ed Lancy Struthers Ladycat Girl’s Basketball Scholarship Fund.

Doris was associated with the basketball program for over 30 years as a coach, scorekeeper and lover of Struthers athletics. The family established this scholarship, which was her dream, after her death.
Ellen Becker played softball for the Ladycats and graduated in 2009. She was seriously injured in an automobile accident and has a long recovery period ahead of her.

In addition to the doubleheader, a 50/50 drawing will be held. If you are unable to attend and would like to donate, send checks to the Struthers Athletic Department, 111 Euclid Ave., Struthers, OH 44471 made payable to the Struthers Athletic Department/Preseason Classic.

Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students and are available in advance at the Struthers High School office and at the door.
