Giuriceo Tacks On 13th Victory at Cene Park
STRUTHERS – Local light welterweight boxer Jake Giuriceo (13- 0-1) won a unanimous decision over Ramesis Gil (6-3-4) of Santo Domingo, D.R., at the Destruction on the Diamond event on Saturday night, Aug. 13.
From the very start the bout was plagued with adversity. Matchmakers struggled to find a suitable opponent for Giuriceo for weeks, and the fight was pushed back over an hour due to technical difficulties with the ring lights. Still, with inclement weather seemingly a heartbeat away at the outdoor ring, the fight proceeded and lasted all eight rounds.
Gil, who must speak to the media through an interpreter, suffered his third straight loss since starting his
professional career. Giuriceo is coached by Keith Burnside of Struthers.
