LOWELLVILLE – Members of the United Methodist Church in Lowellville are compiling a history of the two Methodist churches that were destroyed by fire.
The churches were on the property where the Holy Rosary Educational Center currently is located. The first one was built in 1840 and was destroyed by fire. In 1888, a new building was erected, which also burned in February 1917 when the entire block was destroyed. In 1918, the present church was started on the corner of Quiesner and Wood Street.
If anyone has information or pictures of the churches before or after the fire, please contact Sandy Moretti at 330-536-6464 or Kay Edwards at 330-534-5066.
