STRUTHERS – Struthers resident Jamie Milligan has always been interested in staying healthy and exercising at local gyms and the Boardman YMCA.
But recently, this 34-year-old mother of one decided to take fitness to the professional level.
Milligan, a certified personal trainer, wanted to try out bodybuilding and had her first competition in August at the Steel Valley Classic in Warren.
At this meet – her amateur debut – she took first place in the Women’s Open Bodybuilding Division.
Her second competition was Sept. 15 at the Natural Steel Championships in Pittsburgh. She swept her division once more and also was awarded “Best Poser” and “Ms. Natural Steel City.”
Having won both of her first amateur competitions, Milligan became qualified as a professional.
Milligan’s next competition will be the ninth annual IBNF Cardinal Classic at 9 a.m. on Sept. 22 at Austintown High School in Austintown. This event previously had been held at the Struthers gymnasium and is sponsored by Stephanie Foley and George Hudzik.
