STRUTHERS – Over 50 people attended a public hearing at City Hall on Monday, Jan. 14, to discuss the rezoning of lots on Route 616 to make room for a new financial institution.
Some residents were concerned that the proposed location of the new Struthers Federal Credit Union would cause an increase in traffic in the area.
Mark Brenner, who represented the Credit Union’s board of directors, was the first to address the audience.
He said the Credit Union’s pursuit to purchase the property was “not meant to be an attack on anyone or their neighborhood.”
“If we proceed with this project, we vow to be good neighbors,” Brenner said as he read from a letter from the board. “We are not looking to go into a neighborhood and trash it. We believe we can enhance it.” …
