GETTING OFFICIAL: A long-standing tradition for graduating seniors of Campbell Memorial High School returned on Friday, April 19, with Civic Day. Throughout the day, seniors from Campbell Memorial High School shadowed municipal and Board of Education officials to learn more about the operation of their government. Judge John Durkin of the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court was this year’s guest speaker during a luncheon at the Community Center in Roosevelt Park. Following the luncheon, the students conducted a mock Council Meeting. The event was coordinated by Director of Law Brian J. Macala, Clerk of Council Dina Hamilton and teacher Thomas Carney. Past participants in this event have gone on to serve the city as mayor, councilmen and judges.
