YOUNGSTOWN – The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will celebrate Independence Day by honoring active military personnel and veterans by hosting a Military Appreciation Weekend at the Arms Family Museum, 648 Wick Ave.
The event will take place Friday, July 5, Saturday, July 6, and Sunday, July 7, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission to the Arms Museum will be free for all military and their families during the three day event. Outdoor activities will include games and crafts for kids, a large “thank you” banner for attendees to personalize, a basket raffle, food and drink.
The Historical Society will also host special guest speakers at 2:00 p.m. each afternoon in the Carriage House. On Friday is Judge Robert Millich, a retired Air Force Lt. Colonel; Saturday will be Carl Nunziato a retired Army Major; and on Sunday will be Major Brent Davis from the 910th Youngstown Air Reserve Station. Military artifacts from the Historical Society’s collection and archives will be on display in the archives as well.
Non-military families can receive half price admission with donations of non-perishable food items or toiletries, that will be sent to the Youngstown Veterans Clinic. All outdoor activities and speakers are free for everyone.
