Addicts’ speeches strike chord with students

TOUGH TALK: Aaron O’Brien speaks to Lowellville High School students in the school’s gymnasium on Wednesday, Oct. 23. O’Brien, a recovering alcoholic who killed another person while driving drunk, was joined by fellow recovering addicts Matt Glover from Youngstown State University and Susan Stigliano as part of a program for Red Ribbon Week. The event was a collaboration between Liz Cavalier, the elementary school guidance counselor, and police Capt. Stacey Karis and Chief Ryan Bonacci. The Red Ribbon Campaign is part of the National Family Partnership and is designed to help keep juveniles and young adults away from drugs and alcohol.
