STRUTHERS – The local area football teams played their last regular season games, and Lowellville and Struthers turned in winning scores to keep their teams alive for playoff roles.
However, Campbell Memorial bowed out for their season after a disastrous 50-0 score in Girard to end their season at 3-7.
Struthers, now 8-2, scored in three out of four quarters on passes from QB Gary Muntean to Nick Pollifrone, 20 yards in the first quarter, and Cameron Suchora, 46 yards from Muntean in the fourth.
Anthony Milone was successful with five PATs and a field goal in the first quarter to keep up the points for Coach Curt Kuntz. The team has qualified for post-season playoffs after their win against Howland, now 4-6, with an impressive victory at 31-20.
Luke Witkowski had 159 yards on 22 carries and was a big help in keeping his team ahead. Witkowski scored a 14-yard TD in the final six minutes and helped hold off Howland.
