STRUTHERS – The Struthers School Foundation for Educational Excellence will present checks to four grant recipients totaling over $10,000, doubling the amount of money awarded in previous years.
Recipients are: The Fourth-Grade Team at Struthers Elementary School – $6,259.04 to purchase a mobile lab containing notebooks; Terri Rogan – $3,000 to purchase TI-84 calculators; Stephanie Muntean – $774 to purchase six Nook HD Tablets for the “Take a Look, It’s a Nook” Project; and Dora Zanni – $432.50 to purchase an Informational Book Pack and the About Books Collection.
Also receiving her grant award is Jennifer Pint, who was awarded $2232.35 late last year to purchase stereo headsets, a camera and four laptops.
Since 2003, the Struthers School Foundation has been awarding $5,000 in grants annually for worthwhile educational projects.
The School Foundation was established in 2000 to provide funds for extended educational activities not provided by the school district.
The money contributed is used to provide students of the Struthers School District with supplemental materials intended to enrich their educational opportunities.
The School Foundation is in the midst of its “Buy-a-Brick Campaign” to help sustain its work.
They also are planning a “Luau for Learning” fundraiser for this coming May in hopes of adding to the amount of awards they can distribute next school year.
