STRUTHERS – Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at Kirila Funeral Home, Inc. and 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church for Frank Muransky, 89, who died Friday, Oct. 29, 2010.
He was born May 13, 1921, in Youngstown, a son of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Biroschak Muransky.
He was a 1939 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He worked for General Fireproofing for 42 years as a supervisor, retiring in 1983. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Knights of Columbus in Poland and VFW Post 3538 in Struthers.
He enjoyed gardening and playing horseshoes and competing in many tournaments and winning medals in the Senior Olympics. He also enjoyed exercising and was a member of the Mall Walking Club. He was an avid Notre Dame, Cleveland Browns and Indians fan. Above all he was a devoted and loving husband to his “Bets” and his children and grandchildren, all of who will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his sons, Frank S. Muransky of Youngstown and David (Karen) Muransky of Poland; a daughter, Kathleen (Mike) Kirkland of Johnson City, Tenn.; grandchildren Michael (Cammie) Kirkland, Stephanie (Derrick) Gibson, David (Nychole) Kirkland, Matthew Kirkland, Michelle Muransky and Cheryl (Mike) Kelty; great-grandchildren Charlie Kirkland, Zachary Kirkland, Hagan Gibson, Sarah Kelty and Alex Cho.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Bischoff Muransky, whom he married Feb. 26, 1946, who died March 21, 2001; a brother, Stephen Muransky; and a sister, Helen Fedorchak.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Kirila Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Poland Riverside Cemetery.
