YOUNGSTOWN – Valencia Marrow and Dr. Robert J. Durick were appointed to another three-year term as commissioners of Mill Creek MetroPark by Mahoning County Probate Court Judge Mark Belinky on Jan. 3. They serve along with John Ragan of Canfield, Lou Schiavoni of Boardman and Struthers native Jay Macejko of Poland. The park’s executive director is Dennis Miller.
Marrow is a resident of Youngstown and serves as Youngstown’s city clerk of council. Durick is a Struthers native and current Lowellville resident. He has a dental practice in Boardman and is the owner of Uncle Joe’s Storage with two locations in Struthers and one facility in Campbell.
Mill Creek MetroParks encompasses over 4,400 acres in Mahoning County including 76 acres in Yellow Creek Park in Struthers. The “gem of the Mahoning Valley” boasts a 36-hole Donald Ross designed golf course, Lanterman’s Mill, Ford Nature Center, the Lily Pond, Fellows Riverside Gardens and its Davis Center (visited by over 400,000 people annually), the Morley Performing Arts Pavilion, the James Wick Recreation area on Youngstown’s west side and its par-3 golf course, a wildlife sanctuary, Pioneer Pavilion, two historic blast furnaces, McGuffey Wildlife Preserve, the bikeway, the suspension bridge, various lakes and the Metro Parks Farm on Route 46 across from the Canfield Fairgrounds.
