BOARDMAN – Gladys A. Anderson, 89, of Sunrise Assisted Living, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown with her family at her side.
Mrs. Anderson was born May 23, 1921, in Youngstown, a daughter of Anton and Freda Kallquist Magnuson.
She was a 1939 graduate of South High School and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Christ United Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of its Esther Circle, and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a den mother for the Cub and Boy Scouts for many years.
Mrs. Anderson enjoyed spending time with her high school classmates, her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her husband of 54 years, James R. Anderson, whom she married Feb. 7, 1942, died June 24, 1996.
She is survived by three sons, Wayne Anderson of Illinois, James Anderson of Wooster and Mark Anderson of Poland; a brother, Clarence (Louisa) Magnuson of Canfield; five grandchildren, Gerald Anderson, Stephanie Anderson, Tina (Brad) Findley, James Anderson and Laura Anderson; and four great-grandchildren, Nellie, Tori and Kaleb Findley and Jessica Anderson.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Esther McMaster; and three brothers, George, Carl and Frank “Bill” Wilfred Magnuson.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, Feb. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 4996 Market St., where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
