STRUTHERS – Services were Friday, Oct. 29, at the Clemente Funeral Home and at St. Nicholas Church for Josephine M. (Clacko) DeChellis, 89, who passed away at Beeghly Oaks on Monday afternoon, Oct. 25, 2010.
Josephine was born on March 20, 1921, in Hubbard, a daughter of Henry and Mary Lacivita Clacko.
She came to Struthers in 1941 and worked in the catering business for Garono Catering and then Mr. Anthony’s.
She was a member of St. Nicholas Church and the church’s Altar and Rosary Society and helped in the kitchen during bingo. She was a former member of St. Anthony’s Auxiliary in Struthers and a former member and past president of the Italian-American War Veterans’ Auxiliary.
Josephine married James V. DeChellis on Sept. 15, 1941, and he passed away on Nov. 15, 2005.
She leaves two sons, James J. (Patty) DeChellis Sr. of Struthers and Carl L. (Kathy) DeChellis of Poland; one daughter, Antoinette M. (Richard) Shubert of Boardman; one brother, Anthony Clacko of Hubbard; three sisters, Susan Federico of Hubbard, Mary Bizzarri of Youngstown and Phyllis Gedeon of Cleveland; six grandchildren, Jo Lynn (Doug) Franz, Leslie (fiance Ken) Fredrick, J.J. (Jackie) DeChellis, Nichole Marie DeChellis, Jeffrey (Colleen) DeChellis and Vincent DeChellis; and seven great-grandchildren, Marlo, Dante and James DeChellis, Jacob Jones, Caleb, Elijah and Blake Franz.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Felix, John, Henry Clacko and infant Henry Clacko; and three sisters, Jennie Scoutelos, Eleanor Garono and Elizabeth Chicase.
